Incoming Freshman Flyer

At Western Washington University, every Freshman receives a packet during orientation which is full of documents and flyers with various information about student life as well as advertisements from official student organizations.

The Western AS Bookstore needed a flyer that would first of all, stand out from the rest of the flyers in the packet, and second, persuade the student to visit the store during orientation weekend.

Solution

My solution was to include a coupon at the very top, where it would catch the eye while browsing a packet. Second, I incorporated our "introductory" advertising campaign which had a similar look and feel to the Freshman Newspaper AD.

Result

We experienced a surge of walk-ins during orientation weekend, and 60% of the coupons which we printed where redeemed at the cash register that day.
