AS Bookstore: Textbook Postcard

In order to keep up with online competitors and provide a better service to their customers, the Western AS Bookstore set up a new online textbook ordering program through their website. They wanted to get the word out to students before the Fall quarter and requested that I design a postcard that would be mailed every student.

SOLUTION

I wanted the postcard to stand-out from other bulk-mail advertising that students might be quick to throw away. I also wanted the message of the advertisement to be eye-catching and simple. I separated the primary message from the secondary messages, which I put on the back of the postcard.

RESULT

The online textbook ordering program was a huge success. Just about every student saw the postcard and purchased their textbooks from us that Fall. And it was a real win-win: Not only did our overall textbook revenue increase dramatically, but students who used to be turned-off by the long checkout lines could now come in and pick up their already-purchased books from the counter- already in a shopping bag, with their name on it!
